Unfriendly place, staff or priests? In this cathedral are very unfriendly, i was wore a hat and walked in one man was every rude and pointed me asked me to remove my hat even he could asked gently. If a man in a god’s place with no respect to the visitors I believe it is an evil!

It’s 900 years church, it’s have to money to maintain I know... but use the name for donations by forcing is not a proper way! You can said €5 is for admission and it’s for maintaining the church. But you said it’s donation and must to donate...

Beautiful old cathedral. A great stop while discovering Limerick. Take the time to enjoy the windows and the ancient architecture.

A peaceful place within walking distance from the center of Limerick. Costs 5 Euro to get in and walk around. Not crowded so you could walk around and feel the history of the place.

    St Marys Cathedral

Built over 800 years ago, you can really feel the grandeur of the building once you step foot inside. The large stone arches and vaulted roof, looms protectivly over it's inhabitants, and upper storey corridors really imparts the importance yet functionality of the site. As well as religious duties this Cathedral also housed the Bishops of Limerick and provided the perfect environment for undertaking any religious business or entertaining any important guests.

I can sit here for hours and imagine the services that would have been said here over the last 800 years, Masses, Christenings, Weddings etc... I can imagine the people who once sat and ate in the bishops great hall, people bustling through the upper corridors busy on the days business. It's the architecture of this building that continues to draw me back to it again and again.
